The volume of foreign tourist arrivals reached over two million in the first three months of 2015, an annual drop of 13.7 percent, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Some 1.7 million visitors travelled to Vietnam by air, 18,058 by sea and 298,350 by road, reducing 8 percent, 36.7 percent and 35.8 percent from 2014, respectively.

During the period, the tourism sector recorded an increased flow of visitors from the Republic of Korea, Finland, Spain, Singapore, Italy, the US, Japan and Germany.

Meanwhile, there were an estimated 19.5 million domestic travellers in the first quarter.

Despite the overall decrease in the number of travellers, the sector earned more than 96.3 trillion VND (4.5 billion USD), up 1.9 percent from the same period of 2014.-VNA
