The Asia Turtle Conservation Programme will provide 20,000 USD to help carry out the Vietnamese Pond Turtle Conservation project in Binh Son district, central Quang Ngai province in 2010.

According to the Quang Ngai Forest Ranger Sub-Department, the project will receive about 100 individuals of Pond turtles (Annamenys annamensis) from the Cuc Phuong National Park ’s Turtle Conservation Centre and other centres for care and conservation.

Pond turtle is a species in the list of special care and conservation. They live in the wetland in central provinces of Da Nang , Quang Nam , Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen, but are threatened by urbanisation, which is destroying their living environment./.
