programme “Sentiments with Hoang Sa and Truong Sa” on June 6 under the
chair of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL).
The programme, organised by the Golden Heart of the Labour Fund and Vietnam Television, screened images of China’s violation of Vietnam’s sacred sovereignty by illegally placing the oil rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 and deploying hundreds of vessels and aircraft deep in Vietnam’s waters. Notably, Chinese vessels rammed into, fired water cannons at Vietnam Coast Guard and Fisheries Surveillance ships, leaving many ships and equipment damaged.
The program called for trade union members across Vietnam and other organisations and individuals to join hands in supporting Vietnam’s law enforcement forces and fishermen, so that they would feel secure to safeguard national sacred sovereignty.
Also at the event, VGCL presented 4.5 billion VND to the Vietnam Coast Guard, Fisheries Surveillance force and Vietnam Fisheries Trade Union, and fishermen.-VNA
