Vietnamese health authorities on July 25 confirmed 35 new cases of A/H1N1 flu with all discovered in southern provinces.

The new cases brought the number of patients tested positive for the A (H1N1) flu to 567, with no fatality reported, said Dr. Nguyen Huy Nga, Chief of the Health Ministry’s Preventive Health Department.

Provinces of Khanh Hoa, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Lam Dong, Binh Duong, Dong Thap, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, and Long An have reported cases of this flu among students studying in Ho Chi Minh City’s Ngo Thoi Nhiem and Nguyen Khuyen schools who came back home for summer vacation.

According to health authorities, 371 A/H1N1 flu patients have been discharged from hospital. The remaining, including the newly-detected cases are now separated in isolation for treatment and all are in stable condition.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reported that there have been 154,985 confirmed cases of the flu in 145 countries and territories, of which 917 were fatal by July 25./.
