The Ministry of Transport on January 25 started building work on My Loi Bridge, linking the Mekong Delta’s Tien Giang province to Long An and Ho Chi Minh City.

The bridge, crossing over Soai Rap River, has received investment of over 1.43 trillion VND (67.5 million USD) under Build-Operate-Transfer model.

It measures 2.6 kilometres and is 12 metres wide, which allows four lanes of vehicles to travel.

Once operated in 2015, My Loi Bridge is expected to ease the congestion on National Highway 50 and improve transport capacity.

It is also set to contribute to regional socio-economic development as well as security and defence in the south coastal provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.-VNA
