HCM Television (HTV) officially opened the final round of the Duyen dang truyen hinh ASEAN (ASEAN Charming Television) contest on March 17.

During the contest, 15 female participants including editors, MCs, reporters and performers from TV stations in Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore will perform in the traditional ao dai (Vietnamese long dress), model their own traditional costumes and take part in the talent competition.

Besides, a clip on the contestants’ national proud will give Vietnamese viewers a chance to discover beautiful landscapes, ancient architecture, craft villages and the cultural folk art of ASEAN countries.

The contest is organised to welcome Vietnamese chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and ASEAN’s major events in 2010, said HTV General Director and Head of the organising board Huynh Van Nam.
The contest is also aimed at tightening the solidarity and promoting mutual understanding among ASEAN nations. It is expected to help female candidates in Southeast Asia meet and exchange experiences./.
