Officials from the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) are gathering in Nha Trang, the
central coastal province of Khanh Hoa, for their mid-term meeting discussing
confidence-building measures and development of preventive diplomacy.
At
the three-day meeting, which was convened on March 18, the officials also
discussed the international and regional situations as well as preparations for
the ARF Senior Officials Meeting (ARF SOM) in May and the ARF Ministerial
Meeting in July.
Addressing the event, Pham Quang Vinh, Head of Vietnam’s
ASEAN SOM highlighted recent developments in the world and the region, and the
ARF’s contributions to cooperative dialogues for peace and stability in the
region.
Vinh, who doubles as assistant to the Vietnamese Foreign
Minister, affirmed that as the ARF Chair, Vietnam would do its best for the
forum’s development.
The defence officials held a private discussion on
the sidelines of the meeting, which is co-chaired by Vietnam and India./.
