Ashes of fire victims in Russia arrive home

The remains and ashes of 14 Vietnamese workers killed in a September 11 fire in Russian town of Yegoryevsk were handed over to their families.

The hand-over ceremony was held at Noi Bai International Airport on September 23 with the participation of representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia and the Department of Consular Affairs under the Foreign Ministry.

The repatriation and funeral costs were supported by the Vietnamese embassy and community in Russia , which also held a service for the victims on September 21.

On September 11, a fire engulfed a garment factory in Yegoryevsk, about 100 kilometres southeast of Moscow, where more than 50 Vietnamese workers were working. It killed 14 workers and injured one other.-VNA
