Asian Wushu Championship to take place in HCM City

As many as 520 martial artists and instructors from 22 countries and territories across the world will participate in the 8 th Asian Wushu Championship in Ho Chi Minh City from August 21-25.

The sporting event will be jointly organised by the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and the HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

According to Le Minh Ha from the General Department, Vietnam will send 23 competitors to the event.

World gold medalist Nguyen Thanh Tung, world and Asian Games silver medalists Nguyen Quoc Khanh and Nguyen Xuan Hiep have been named in the Vietnamese team.

The hosts hope to bag 40 gold medals at the five-day event.

Wushu is now a popular martial art in many countries around the world. It is expected to become an official event at the Olympic 2020.-VNA
