The Chinese embassy granted a donation of 90 million VND to the Vietnam
Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) on March 11.
Chinese Ambassador Sun Gouxiang underscored that this aid will help the
victims improve their healthcare and living standard, overcome the consequences
of war and actively adapt to society, adding that experts from the two countries
will jointly research an effective treatment for Vietnamese AO victims in the
next time.
At the ceremony, Honorary chairwoman of VAVA Nguyen Thi Binh
proposed that China continue helping AO/dioxin victims, along with helping the
world better understand the continued harmful effect of this toxic on the
environment and Vietnamese people.
According to VAVA, around 4.8 million
Vietnamese people have been exposed to AO/dioxin, with more than 3 million of
them suffering health problems related to the exposure./.
