Fourteen Vietnamese workers were killed and one was injured after a fire engulfed a garments factory in the town of Yegoryevsk, 100 kilometres southeast of Moscow, on September 11.

Moscow’s emergencies department said that an investigation team was sent to establish the reasons behind the blaze and identify the victims.

When the fire happened, more than 50 Vietnamese workers were working in the factory. The poor victims included six from Nghe An province, five from Quang Binh, two from Hai Duong, one from Thanh Hoa and one from Ha Nam. The remainder luckily escaped from the building in time.

Later the same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia sent staff to the scene to assist the injured and liaise with Russian officials.-VNA
