Foreign arrivals to Vietnam up nearly 11 percent

Vietnam welcomed over 3.8 million overseas arrivals in the January-July period, representing a year-on-year increase of 10.8 percent, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

In July alone, about 466,000 foreign tourists flocked to the country, up 11.6 percent over the previous month, but down 7.9 percent against the same period last year.

This month, 380,000 tourists arrived in Vietnam by air while 79,000 came via sea routes and 7,000 by land.

Vietnam ’s major tourism markets included China , with over 773,000 arrivals in seven months, followed by the Republic of Korea with more than 421,000 and Japan with nearly 330,000.

The tourism sector is making every effort to fulfill the target of receiving 38.5 million holiday makers, including 6.5 million foreigners, to earn 150 trillion VND this year.-VNA
