Foreign tributes flow for former state leader

The Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba on Sept. 12 hosted a memorial ceremony for Vo Chi Cong, former Politburo member, former Party Central Committee Secretary, former President of the State Council and and former advisor to the Party Central Committee.

The embassy opened a funeral book for Cuban Party, State and Government leaders and representatives of foreign diplomatic corps in Cuba to express their sympathy on the death of an outstanding leader of the Vietnamese Party and State.

Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee (CPCCC) and Head of the CPCCC Commission on External Relations Jose Ramon Balaguer paid a tribute and signed the funeral book, highlighting Cong’s contributions to Vietnam ’s national liberation and reconstruction.

On the same day, the General Secretary of t he United Left Movement of Dominica (MIU) sent a message of condolence to the Vietnamese Party, State and people on the death of Vo Chi Cong.

On Sept. 12 and 13, the Vietnamese Embassy in China held a solemn memorial service for Vo Chi Cong.

Assistant to the Chinese Foreign Minister Liu Zhen Min, assistant to the head of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (CPCCC) Yang Yan Yi, President of the China-Vietnam Friendship Association Qi Jian Guo and many representatives of foreign embassies and international organisations were present at the event.

Leaders of the Communist Party of India ( CPI ) and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) presented floral tributes to former President Cong at the Vietnamese Embassy in India .

Representatives from many foreign diplomatic corps and the Overseas Vietnamese Community in Australia presented floral tributes him at the Vietnamese Embassy in Canberra and Consulate General in Sydney and expressed their sympathy with the Vietnamese Party, State and people over the death of the former President of the State Council in a funeral book that was opened for three days from Sept. 12.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Bangladesh held a solemn memorial ceremony for Vo Chi Cong on Sept. 12 and 13.

The Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry’s delegation, President of the Bangladeshi Communist Party Manzurul Ahsan Khan and Secretary oaf the Bangladeshi Workers Party Central Committee Ali Ahmed Enam Ul Haque paid tributes to Vo Chi Cong.

The Vietnamese permanent delegation to the UN and Vietnamese agencies at the UN and New York held a memorial ceremony in New York on Sept. 12.

The Vietnamese embassies in Canada , Mexico and Algeria also held memorial services to commemorate former President of the State Council Vo Chi Cong.

Algerian Senate President Abdelkader Bensalah conveyed his deepest sympathy to the Vietnamese Party and State and Cong’s family. The Algerian Government and people wished to continue to promote the Algeria-Vietnam traditional friendship and cooperation that was fostered by former President of the State Council Vo Chi Cong, he said.

Also on Sept. 12, the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK opened a funeral book for Overseas Vietnamese and international friends to commemorate Cong./.
