German foundation opens representative office in Hanoi

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) opened a representative office in Hanoi on September 18.

Present at the event was visiting German Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Minister of Economics and Technology Philipp Roesler, Minister of State at the German Federal Foreign Office Cornelia Pieper and German Ambassador to Vietnam Jutta Frash.

Addressing the event, Roesler said the office is established under the Vietnamese – German Strategic Partnership Declaration, signed by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in October last year.

Don Tuan Phong, Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and head of the People’s Aid Coordinating Committee expressed his wish that FNF will help Vietnam perfect its model of social development and study global development issues in the near future.

Established in 1958, FNF operates in 60 countries around the globe.-VNA
