Le Thanh Hai, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and a delegation of National Assembly deputies from the city visited the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on June 19 to mark the 87 th anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day on June 21.

When speaking with the VNA, Hai said that with its 87 year old history, Vietnam ’s revolutionary press has the right to be proud of the significant contributions it has made to the struggle for national liberation as well as the current national construction process.

Since its inception 67 years ago, the VNA has been an official outlet of information from the Party and State to the people and overseas friends.

The agency has contributed greatly to carrying out the Party’s and State’s policies, guidelines and laws and has reflected the country’s socio-economic development, national defence and security while confirming Vietnam’s prestige in the international arena, said Hai.

He used the occasion to thank the VNA and its bureau in HCM City for providing accurate, up to date information about the operations of the municipal Party Committee and local authorities as well the progress of socio-economic development in the city.

Hai said he hopes that the VNA staff will make even more effort to fulfill the tasks assigned to them by the Party and State.

On behalf of the VNA’s staff, General Director Nguyen Duc Loi expressed his thanks to HCM City for continually assisting the agency whenever possible, especially the bureau in HCM City.

The VNA will strive to live up to its the role as a national news agency and continue to relay information issued by the Party and the State, which contributes to national construction and development during the renewal process, said Loi.-VNA
