A street festival themed “ Hanoi – no plastic bag Sunday ” will take place in Hanoi on October 2.

The move, which will be hosted by the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, aims to raise public awareness of the adverse impacts of plastic bags on the living environment.

It is part of the annual campaign, which is expected to help people gain more understanding about the plastic bag disaster, change their habit of using plastic bags in their daily life as well as encourage them to replace plastic bags with self decomposing and friendly bags.

In the framework of the festival, the range of activities will include a procession, bicycle ride, performances of ideas and models to promote awareness of the harmful effects of plastic bag, while rubbish collection will be also held.

This year’s campaign is scheduled to last for three months, from October to December, in 29 districts of the capital city./.
