Huyen wins gold at Asian athletics

Nguyen Thi Huyen won a gold medal in the women’s 400m hurdles at the 15 th Asian Junior Athietics Championships in Sri Lanka .

Huyen beat six strong rivals to finish first in a time of 59.92sec, leaving behind runners-up including Zaiko Marina of Kazakhstan (1:00.00) and Lo Pei-Lin of Chinese Taipei (1:00.45).

Earlier, Le Trong Giang won a bronze medal in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:22.28.

With one gold and one bronze, Vietnam ranked 12 th in the medal tally.

China became overall champion with a haul of 15 gold, five silver and three bronze medals.-VNA
