The third international workshop on the East Sea opened in Hanoi on Nov. 4 with the participation of more than 200 foreign and domestic delegates.

With the theme “East Sea: Cooperation for security and development in the region”, the workshop reviewed recent developments relating to the East Sea and put forward measures to maintain peace and stability and promote cooperation in the region.

Delegates from the US , India , Russia and ASEAN nations emphasised the importance of the East Sea issue to an environment of peace, and stability in the region and the world.

Some delegates said the East Sea is of global significance because amid the globalisation process, international security is inseparable and the interests of countries in the region and the world are intermixed.

They stressed that ensuring marine security and safety and freedom of navigation in the East Sea is a vital question for nations both in and outside the region./.
