Japan’s Crown Prince Naruhito arrived in Cambodia on June 27 for a
three day official visit, at the invitation of Cambodia’s Prime
Minister Hun Sen, to further bilateral ties.
Hun
Sen gave Japan’s heir to the throne a warm welcome on his first ever
visit to Cambodia, saying that the country is keen to promote
cooperation with Japan, especially in economics, humanitarian aid and
developing systems for social welfare.
The Crown
Prince underlined the traditional friendship between Japan and
Cambodia and pledged to enhance ties between the two countries in the
future, especially in investment and trade.
During
his stay in Cambodia , Crown Prince Naruhito is scheduled to meet
with King Norodom Sihamoni and visit the Angkor Wat temple complex in
Siem Reap province, a world heritage site.
Japan is now one of Cambodia ’s leading providers of grants and foreign investor in the country.
In the first five months of this year, two way trade between both
countries reached 207 million USD, a year-on-year rise of 3 percent.
More than 100 Japanese enterprises are currently operating in
Cambodia.-VNA
