General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and Lao
President Chummaly Saynhasone received visiting Director of the
Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Commission for
External Relations Hoang Binh Quan in Vientiane , Laos , on June 22.
The Vietnamese Party official congratulated the Lao
Party, State and people for the important achievements they made in the
first year of implementing the Resolution of the IXth Congress of the
LPRP.
Quan said he hopes the Lao people will
successfully implement the Resolution of the IXth Party Congress and the
five-year socio-economic development plan for the 2011-2015 period.
Vietnam will exert its utmost to foster the in-depth, effective and
practical development of the special solidarity between Vietnam and
Laos for the interest of the people and for peace, stability,
cooperation and development in the region and the world, he said.
The Lao Party and State leader highlighted the results of talks and
cooperation between the two Parties’ commissions, active contributions
by the two commissions to promoting the Laos-Vietnam comprehensive
cooperation.
Chummaly Saynhasone said he hopes the two
commissions will enhance exchange of information and experiences and
increase mutual assistance to successfully implement each Party’s
external policy as well as coordinate to organise well the Vietnam-Laos
Friendship Year in 2012.
The Lao Party, State and
people will do their best to enhance the traditional friendship, special
solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam ,
he said.
Earlier the same day, Director of the CPVCC
Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan held talks with Head
of the LPRP Commission for External Relations, Thongloun Sisoulith, who
is also a Party Politburo member, Lao Deputy PM and FM, in Vientiane.
Both sides informed each other of the situations in their respective
country and Party and exchanged views on international and regional
issues of mutual concern.
They discussed specific
measures to implement agreements reached between the two Parties and
States and the content of the programme for the Vietnam-Laos Friendship
Year.
During the visit from June 22-26, the Vietnamese
delegation will hold working sessions with a number of Lao ministries
and sectors on the implementation of high-ranking agreements and the
Vietnam-Laos agreement on cooperation in economics, culture, education,
science and technology.
They are scheduled to visit Vientiane province and inspect the implementation of a number of Vietnam-funded projects for
Laos.
