A solemn meeting was held Hanoi on July 27 to mark the 65 th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day.
Party
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung attended the event.
Speaking at the function, PM Dung stated that over the past decades,
the Party and State have attached importance to taking care of war
invalids, sick soldiers and families of fallen soldiers and people who
have rendered service to the nation.
The movement of
paying the debt of gratitude to those who made great contributions to
the country has developed widely, becoming a regular activity of every
stratum of people, he said.
Upholding the tradition
of “when drinking water, remember its source”, the Party, State and
people will continue efforts to improve the material and spiritual lives
of people of merits, ensuring that their living standards will be the
same as or higher than the average levels.
The
Government leader asked all local authorities, agencies and
organisations to conduct more communication activities to raise the
awareness of the tradition of patriotism and gratitude among all people
strata, especially young generations.
He also
expressed his wish that people with merits to the country will continue
upholding the revolutionary tradition and set examples in implementing
the guidelines and policies of the Party and the law of the State, and
overcome difficulties not only to build a better life for themselves and
their families but also to make even more contributions to the country.-VNA
