The Ministry of Industry and Trade
(MoIT) and the Hanoi People’s Committee jointly held a “Consumer Rights
Day” on March 13 to raise public awareness on the issue.
Under the theme “Our money, our rights”, Consumers International, which
is the global campaigning voice for consumers, will focus on protecting
consumer rights in the financial sector as financial services are
getting more and more popular, said MoIT Deputy Minister Le Danh Vinh.
Vinh said a draft law on consumer rights protection is about to be
completed for submission to the government this month. The promulgation
of the law, which is expected to be approved by the National Assembly
in October, will create a solid legal framework for consumer rights
protection in Vietnam .
The “Consumer Rights Day” is part of the activities held in Vietnam in response to World Consumer Rights Day 2010./.
