Netherlands defence minister visits Vietnam

The defence ministers of Vietnam and the Netherlands signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two defence ministries following their talks in Hanoi on Sept. 26.

The Netherlands’ Defence Minister Hans Hillen is paying an official visit to Vietnam from Sept. 25 at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart General Phung Quang Thanh.

At their talks, the two sides reached consensus on further exchange of visits and sharing experience in dealing with issues of climate change and natural disaster and in joining peace keeping activities of the United Nations.

The ministers also agreed to promote cooperation in the field of defence industry and establish relations between the two countries’ military businesses with the aims of strengthening and boosting the cooperative ties and friendship between the two countries’ armies and people. /.
