Nha Trang Seafoods Joint Stock Company (Nha Trang Seafoods) did not dump tra fish on the US market between August 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009, according to a preliminary conclusion by the US Department of Commerce (DOC) released in late January.

The conclusion means that the Vietnamese business will not be subject to anti-dumping taxes.

The Vietnam Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) quoted the US Federal Register newspaper as saying that DOC will announce its final conclusion within 90 days.

Vietnam ’s tra fish is exported to 130 countries and territories in the world, and brought in 1.34 billion USD in 2009.

After a difficult year due to price declines, tra and basa breeders in the Mekong Delta region are full of hope for a smooth business year as the wholesale prices for the fish have recovered.

At present, the price stands at 15,800 VND per kg, which is expected to bring a profit of 500-800 VND per kg./.
