Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong arrived in Hanoi on Dec. 8,
concluding the State-level visit to Cambodia at the invitation of King
Norodom Sihamoni.
Earlier, Trong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited Angkor
Wat and Bayon temple in the Cambodian province of Seam Reap.
During the visit from Dec. 6-8, Trong held talks with King Sihamoni,
met with the King’s father Norodom Sihanouk and mother Queen Norodom
Monique Sihanouk, President of the Senate Chea Sim, and Acting
President of the National Assembly Nguon Nhel, Prime Minister HunSen,
while also receiving a delegation from the Cambodia – Vietnam Friendship
Association.
After the visit, Trong cabled a
message of thanks to King Sihamoni, high-ranking leaders and people of
Cambodia for their warm and kind reception for the Vietnamese
delegation.

Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations said the visit
once again affirms the Vietnamese Party and State’s consistent foreign
policy of attaching special importance to deepening relations with
neighbouring countries in a stable, sustainable and long-term manner,
especially giving priority to preserving and developing the fine
neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive and long-term
sustainable cooperation with Cambodia.
The visit
strengthened the solidarity and friendship between the two countries,
served as a driving force to lift the two countries’ relations to a new
height and further promoting close and reliable relations between the
Communist Party of Vietnam and the Cambodian People’s Party, said Quan.
He added it also stepped up traditional cooperation,
solidarity and friendship among the three fraternal countries on the
Indochinese peninsula, enhanced Vietnam’s international position and
continued to promote peace, stability, cooperation and development in
Southeast Asia and the world./.
