Plan International held a workshop to launch a project on natural disaster control and aftermath mitigation in the central province of Quang Tri on September 1.

The project will benefit 12 villages in the two mountainous districts of Hong Hoa and Dakrong and the coastal district of Gio Linh, which are all prone to natural disasters.

The non-profit organisation will help hold training courses to increase local capacity to cope with natural calamities and fund small-scaled operations of mitigating national disaster impact at a total cost of over 6 billion VND.

The project, scheduled to end by November 31, 2011, will benefit over 33,000 people./.
