Vietnam always attaches importance to
developing ties with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)
and wants to further enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in
economics, trade, investment and culture.
Prime Minister
Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement while receiving visiting President of
the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK Kim Yong-nam
in Hanoi on August 7.
The PM expressed his pleasure at
the good outcomes of President Kim Yong-nam’s meetings with President
Truong Tan Sang and Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
The
Vietnamese Government will effectively implement the agreements
between President Kim Yong-nam and Vietnamese leaders during his visit,
PM Dung affirmed.
On the Korean Peninsula issue, the Vietnamese
government leader affirmed that Vietnam consistently supports a
peaceful, stable and developed Korean Peninsula as well as dialogue,
reconciliation, and peaceful reunification between the two Koreas.
Dung
also took this occasion to extend his deep sympathy over human and
property losses caused by the recent natural disasters in the DPRK.
President
Kim Yong-nam expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam again and witness
the achievements the country has made in socio-economic development and
national construction, considering them as an encouragement to the DPRK
in its national construction and development process.
The DPRK
always attaches importance to and wants to ceaselessly consolidate and
further strengthen the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with
Vietnam, he said, adding that his country also wishes Vietnam will share
experience in socio-economic building and development.
President Kim Yong-nam thanked Vietnam for its decision to provide 5,000 tonnes of rice for the DPRK people.
Regarding
the East Sea issue, President Kim affirmed the DPRK’s stance of
supporting the settlement of disputes through peaceful measures.
The two sides agreed to continue to maintain
visits and exchanges between leaders at all levels to seek measures to
improve bilateral cooperation effectiveness and strengthen collaboration
at regional and international forums.-VNA
