Three more provinces will be added into the regional development triangle, bringing the total localities to 13 following an approval of revising a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on Nov. 26, 2008.

Under the proposal passed by officials from Cambodia , Laos and Vietnam at a recent meeting in Banlung city, the Cambodian province of Rattanakiri, three new-added provinces are Binh Phuoc of Vietnam, Kratie of Cambodia and Champassak of Laos.

At the fifth meeting of the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam development triangle coordination committee from March 16-18, the participants agreed with a proposal to draw a list of items that will enjoy preferential tariffs if having certificates of origin from the three countries as well as establish a joint technical subcommitee on policy making and priorities in order to promote investment in the triangle.

Participants agreed that Vietnam will chair meetings on a joint tourism development plan for the triangle. They also were unanimous in the enhancement of cooperation among the three countries’ coordination committees, thus implementing the MoU on the triangle at national level, they said.

The participants shared the same view on the establishment of a website on the triangle and hailed Vietnam’s assistance in helping Cambodia and Laos carry out the plan.

Prior to the meeting, a Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam fair was held in Banlung city on March 14-15 with the participation of businesses from provinces in the triangle.

Besides, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam held an investment, trade and tourism promotion meeting and a cultural exchange programme for young people from triangle’s provinces./.
