Second Hanoi int’l piano competition concludes

The second Hanoi International Piano Competition wrapped up in Hanoi on September 11, with Vietnam winning first prize for the first time.

10- year-old Phan Thien Bach Anh won the first prize in Group A, while Nguyen The Vinh of Vietnam and Huang Rung-Jiuan of Taiwan ( China ) shared the second prize.

In the other two groups of B and C for older contestants, Vietnam won only one prize which was the third prize in Group C for Hoang Ho Thu.

Contestants from the Republic of Korea won both the first and second prizes in Group B, while group C was dominated by Japan .

Hosted by the Vietnam National Academy of Music (ANAM) for the second time, the event attracted the participation of 53 candidates from 10 countries and territories across the world.

Prize winners are expected to join a performance at the Hanoi Opera on the night of September 12.-VNA
