Southeast Asian Youth Ship heads to Vietnam

The 38 th sailing of the Southeast Asian Youth Ship Programme, on the ship Fuji Maru, will arrive in Saigon port, Ho Chi Minh City on Dec. 4, according to the Standing Committee of the municipal Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

In the four-day programme, 329 youth delegates from Southeast Asia and Japan will participate in cultural exchange activities, visit Ho Chi Minh City leaders, join a homestay programme and visit relic sites as well as the city’s economic and social establishments.

The Southeast Asian Youth Ship programme, which began in 1974, is a cooperative activity between the Japanese government and ASEAN governments, designed to strengthen the friendly relations of young people from ASEAN countries and Japan . Vietnam has joined the programme since 1996.

The current programme is scheduled to start in Japan on Dec. 2 and visit five Southeast Asian countries – the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam./.
