Almost 200 students from the National Economic University and Chuo
University of Japan discussed environmentally-friendly production at a
symposium in Hanoi on August 27.
Also present
were experts from the Institute of Strategic Research , the
Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Japan International
Cooperation Agency (JICA) and many other interested agencies.
The symposium, entitled “Green economic corridor and ecological
villages”, heard reports on ecological environment, the eco-village
model, urban solid waste management, clean development machinery, and
measures to cope with climate change.
Some of the
scientific reports were prepared by Japanese students on the basis of
surveys on socio-economic development and activities in support of
forest farmers and eco-village establishments in Vietnamese provinces
such as Hai Duong, Son La and Ha Giang.
The
National Economic University of Vietnam and Chuo University of Japan set
up sisterly relations over 10 years ago. Every year sees between 30 and
40 Japanese students visit and conduct research at the Vietnamese
university.
Leaders from the two universities
pledged to expand cooperation to other economic fields in addition to
environment and increase exchange of students for personal training and
field trips/.
