Every where she goes, international friends enthusiastically support Ha Long Bay of Vietnam in the voting for the world’s new seven wonders, said Vietnamese Tourism Ambassador Ly Nha Ky.

Ky has just returned from a tour abroad to mobilise votes for Ha Long Bay as one of the world’s new seven wonders.

She said many foreign businesspeople also expressed their interest in investing in Vietnam ’s tourism sector.

The Vietnamese Ambassador visited Hong Kong, the Philippines and Malaysia where she met with local officials, businessmen and people.

In the Philippines , she met with the national security advisor and leaders of ABC taxi group and the Exportbank . She also met with the Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines and the Malaysian tourism minister.

On Oct. 24, the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association held a meeting in Moscow to vote for Ha Long Bay.

Ha Long Bay , or the Bay of the Descending Dragon, in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh , is scattered with some 3,000 precipitous, strangely sculpted limestone islands and outcrops, and dotted with small floating villages and deserted sandy beaches.

The folk tale has it that the dragons descended from heaven to help locals by spitting jewels and jade to the sea, forming a natural fortress against invaders. These precious stones are represented by the lush green outcrops.

Ha Long Bay has been recognised twice by UNESCO as World’s Heritage for its landscape and geographical values./.
