Vietnam and Italy will work closer together to promote more in-depth cooperation in industry in the future.

A joint declaration on this was signed in Rome, Italy on September 18 by representatives from the Agency for Industrial Promotion (AIP) under Vietnam ’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the Italian Investment and Technology Promotions Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation ( UNIDO-ITPO Italy).

The declaration announced an action plan aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the industrial sector and cooperation in this field between Vietnamese and Italian partners.

Accordingly, both countries will jointly organise events and participate in global forums to support sustainable development and provide information on industrial projects, which can help to strengthen cooperation between the business communities in both countries.

AIP and UNIDO-ITPO Italy will also work together to develop the private sector, continue with initiatives in the processing sector as well as promoting the use of green industries.

Also on the same day, UNIDO-ITPO Italy , in cooperation with the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy and the MoIT held a workshop on the potential for jointly developing industry in Vietnam .

When speaking at the event, Elisabetta Belloni from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underlined the support provided by UNIDO to Vietnamese small and medium sized enterprises in recent times.

Representatives from UNIDO-ITPO Italy also praised the results of recent joint initiatives between their organisation and Vietnam, saying that this will create the right conditions for small and medium sized Italian enterprises to seek out new investment opportunities in Vietnam.-VNA
