The Vietnamese team participated in the fourth ASEAN School Games themed
“Spirit, Friendship and Excellence”, kicking off in the Indonesian
province of East Java on June 29.
The event will see the participation of 1,356 athletes and officials
from Indonesia , Malaysia , the Philippines , Thailand , Singapore ,
Brunei Darussalam and Vietnam , in 11 events including track and
field as compulsory, and with golf and sepak takraw being optional.
The host country has set a target of bagging 36 gold medals, compared
to the 21 it won at the third ASEAN School Games in Singapore last year,
where Thailand came out on top, winning the event overall, followed by
Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia as the runners-up./.
