VN delegation attends UMNO Congress in Malaysia

A Vietnam delegation has joined the 2011 Congress of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) which runs for five days from Dec. 1, in Kuala Lumpur .

The delegation, which is led by Mai The Duong, member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) and Vice Director of the CPVCC Commission for Inspection, is among the guests representing 26 parties from 24 countries.

Addressing the opening ceremony, UMNO President, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak revised the achievements of UMNO, the leading party of Barisan Nasional (BN) and coalition partners through the past 50 years.

He stressed the leading role of UMNO in building racial harmony to make a stable society. He also applauded the new economic policy and called for union among the party’s members.

In the framework of the Congress, the Vietnamese delegation delivered a speech themed, “The political manner of eco-social transformation in a global crisis period”. They also took part in activities for international delegations including meeting with the UMNO President and Vice President and gathering with other delegations./.
