A new headquarters of the Lao National Assembly Office, which was built with funding granted by Vietnam, was inaugurated on Dec. 1.

Addressing the hand-over ceremony, Vietnamese NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong said the headquarters of the Lao NA Office is a significant gift presented by the Vietnamese Party, State and people for the Lao people, reflecting the close sentiments and solidarity between the two nations.

This is a practical activity to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries and 35 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty, and the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2012, she added.

For his part, Lao NA Vice President Saysomphone Phomvihance said the headquarters of the Lao NA Office is a significant gift and a symbol of the Vietnam-Laos friendship.

Covering an area of 5,200 sq.m, the 170 billion VND project features a six-story building./.
