The Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association (VRFA) should strengthen existing relations and seek new partners to foster the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, Nguyen Van Kien, made the suggestion at the fifth congress of VRFA in Hanoi on Nov. 27.

Kien spoke highly of the achievements that VRFA reaped in the last term, saying that in the 2011-2016 term, the association should focus on activities aimed at promoting bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, culture, education, arts and tourism.

The congress elected a new 55-member executive committee, with Tong Van Nga being re-elected as the VRFA President.

On the occasion, the VRFA organised a meeting to celebrate the 93 rd National Day of Romania, which falls on Dec. 1./.
