Vice President begins visit to Thailand

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan began a five-day official visit to Thailand on June 20 at the invitation of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

As soon as she arrived in Thailand , Vice President Doan went straight to a meeting with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Both host and guest expressed their pleasure at the fine developments in the traditional friendship and cooperation shown between Vietnam and Thailand .

They agreed that senior level visits, especially by members of the Thai royal family, have consolidated understanding and trust between the two countries and have boosted bilateral cooperation in many ways.

Doan said she was delighted to visit Thailand for the first time, adding that under the sound rule of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the people of Thailand will achieve even more and see the country develop and prosper as well as raise its position in the region and the world.

She thanked the Thai royal family and Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for their kind affection for Vietnam and its people, especially the Princess’ practical support in cultural, education and training projects in Vietnam .

Vice President Doan also sent her best wishes to the Thai King and Queen on their respective 85th and 80th birth anniversaries.

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn thanked Doan for her visit, saying that it will strengthen and develop friendship and cooperation between both nations.

She praised Vietnam for its socio-economic development achievements and said she will continue to support the country in human resources training and in teacher and student exchanges.-VNA
