Vietnam, Laos boost technology cooperation

A delegation from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, headed by President Chau Van Minh, is paying a working visit to Laos from May 21-25, at the invitation of the Lao Ministry of Science and Technology.

The delegation held talks with a delegation from the Lao Ministry of Science and Technology, led by Minister Boviengkham Vongdala, on May 21.

The two sides reviewed the results of cooperative activities in science - technology, agreed on cooperation directions in fields of common concern, including strengthening research capacity, helping Laos in scientific and technological application, setting up socio-economic development planning for some Lao provinces as well as cooperating in disaster prevention, climate change adaptation and sustainable use of natural resources.

They also exchanged information on biological, informational, environmental and space technologies and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the scientific sector.

Under the MoU, the two sides will promote joint research projects, co-organise training courses, conferences and seminars, support each other in human resources, capacity building and other common issues.-VNA
