Vietnam attends int’l Red Cross conference

The 31 st International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) took place from Nov. 28 – Dec. 1 in Geneva , Switzerland with the participation of almost 2,000 delegates from 194 governments and the societies of Red Cross and Red Crescent across the world.

The Vietnamese delegation led by Ambassador Vu Dung, Head of the Vietnamese Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN), and the Vietnam Red Cross (VNRC) delegation led by its Chairman Tran Ngoc Tang attended the conference.

Themed, “Our world, your actions – joint efforts for a humanitarian cause”, this year’s conference focused on four areas – strengthening protection for victims of armed conflicts; strengthening disaster laws; strengthening local humanitarian action, and addressing barriers to community –based health care.

Convened every four years, this is the largest and most important conference of the Red Cross movement, attended by state representatives and all the divisions of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and national Red Cross societies./.
