Vietnam wishes to receive more businesses from the Republic of Korea (RoK) in the future, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

While receiving Managing Director of the Korea Western Power Co., Ltd (KOWEPO) Jung Sung Jin in Hanoi on March 12, President Triet expressed his delight at the fine relationship between the two countries over the past time and affirmed that the RoK is one of the leading foreign investors in Vietnam .

He stressed that Vietnam is determined to foster its ties with the RoK in the spirit of the Strategic Cooperative Partnership agreed during President Lee Myung-bak’s Vietnam official visit in October last year.

Vietnam has a high demand for electricity as it is speeding up its industrialisation process, he said, adding that KOWEPO’s power projects in Vietnam are in line with to the country’s investment attraction strategy.

For his part, Jung shared his assessment of Vietnam as an economic dragon in Asia that is drawing special attention from foreign investors, including those from the RoK.

He vowed to boost the rapid and effective implementation of his company’s existing projects in Vietnam , contributing to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

KOWEPO, which boasts its strengths in designing, executing, operating and maintaining power plants, is paying special attention to the possibility of investing in the Son My 2 thermoelectric power plant in the central province of Binh Thuan./.
