Vietnam is determined to further promote solidarity, friendship and
fraternal relations between the Vietnamese and Cuban Parties,
Governments, legislative bodies and people.
Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi
Kim Ngan made the affirmation at talks with Jose Ramon Balaguer, Head of
the Cuban Party Central Committee’s Department of International
Relations and Jaime Crombet, Vice President of the Cuban Parliament, in
Havana on Dec. 5, as part of her visit to Cuba from Dec. 3-5.
Ngan spoke highly of the achievements made by the Cuban people in the
national construction and defence process and expressed the Vietnamese
Party, Government and people’s consistent solidarity and support to the
revolutionary cause and national development of Cuba.
The Cuban leaders congratulated great achievements made by the
Vietnamese people and thanked the Vietnamese Party, Government, National
Assembly and people for their solidarity and consistent support to Cuba
during the past years.
They affirmed Cuba’s
determination in promoting economic development in parallel with
protecting the principles of revolution, for social justice and national
sovereignty.
The two sides agreed to continue
promoting and strengthening relations between the two legislative
bodies, creating conditions for the two countries’ lawmakers to exchange
experience in compiling and building legal documents, contributing to
the national development and building socialism in each country.
On the occasion, Crombet asked Ngan to convey President of Cuban
Parliament Ricardo Alarcon’s invitation to his Vietnamese counterpart
Nguyen Sinh Hung to visit Cuba in the near future.
On the evening of the same day, at a meeting with Alarcon, Ngan affirmed
Vietnam’s solidarity and support in asking the US to end its economic
blockade and embargo against Cuba.
During the visit
to Cuba, Ngan met with President of Cuban Institute of Friendship with
the Peoples Kenia Serrano, President of the Cuba – Vietnam Friendship
Association Yolanda Ferrer.
She also laid a wreath at the
monuments to Cuban national hero Jose Marti and President Ho Chi Minh in
Havana, and visited Ben Tre village in Bauta district of Artemisa
province./.
