The Vietnamese Goods Week was launched at Geant Casino Paris Massena, the biggest supermarket in Paris, on Nov. 9.

The 10-day event, organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), Big C Vietnam and the holding company of Big C supermarket chain in France, Casino Group, aims to promote Vietnamese goods in the French market.

On display at the supermarket are around 180 made-in-Vietnam products, mainly fresh vegetables and fruits, dried and frozen food and handicraft products.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung highlighted the organisers’ initiative to organise the event, the first of its kind in Paris. He said this is a good opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to access French retailers and consumers.

France is the second biggest market of Vietnam in Europe and Vietnam is an attractive market for French entrepreneurs and investors, said the diplomat.

For his part, Advisor to the Casino Group President Jacques Fourvel said that he is proud of the development of Big C supermarkets in Vietnam and that Vietnamese goods are given a special position at Casino stalls, he added.

Head of the MoIT’s European Market Department Dang Hoang Hai said the event is an initial step of big projects jointly carried out by Big C Vietnam and the MoIT to help Vietnamese businesses, manufacturers and distributors to access French partners and customers and explore French and European consumers’ demands.

Similar events will be held in Germany in March and April next year and in the US in the future, Hai added./.
