Vietnamese, Lao provinces boost cooperation

Vietnam and Laos have agreed to promote cooperation between the two National Assembly (NA) Offices and in human resource training in the near future.

The agreement was reached at a working session in Vientiane on Nov. 29 between Tran Van Hang, Chairman of the Vietnamese NA Committee for External Relations; Nguyen Hanh Phuc, Head of the Vietnamese NA Office and their Lao counterparts Coukeo Akhamunty and Ounkeo Vouthilath.

At the session, the two sides said they hope the construction of a new office building for the Lao NA Office, a gift from the Vietnamese NA to Laos , will be completed on schedule, ready for the handover on Dec. 1 this year.

They also agreed to step up the publication of Phuthern Pasaxon magazine, the paper of the Lao NA.

The Vietnamese and Lao NA Offices reached consensus on educational campaigns among people from all walks of life, especially the two countries’ young generations, on the traditional friendship between the two countries to mark the 50 th anniversary of diplomatic ties (Sept. 5) and the 35 th anniversary of the signing of Vietnam – Laos Amity and Cooperation Treaty (July 18).

They also agreed to host activities to mark Vietnam – Laos Friendship Year 2012, to foster the special solidarity and develop comprehensive cooperation between the two countries./.
