Abhisit Vejjajiva, outgoing Prime Minister of Thailand, has been re-elected as leader of the Democrat Party.

At a meeting session of the party held in Bangkok on August 6 to elect a new party leader, Abhisit was supported with 96 percent of votes.

Abhisit, the youngest prime minister of Thailand announced his resignation as Democrat leader after his party clinched just 150 seats against Puea Thai’s 256 in the general election in early July.

Also at the meeting, Chalermchai Sri-on, member of the party, representing the central province of Prachuap Khiri Khan was elected as the party's secretary-general to replace Outgoing Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban./.
