A project funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has effectively helped 10 provinces in Vietnam overcome the aftermaths of natural disasters.

A Dec. 27 conference in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang reached the conclusion after reviewing the implementation of the ADB project in 10 northern and central provinces , which were hardly hit by floods and storms in 2005.

The project had a total capital of 95.01 million USD, of which 80.41 million USD was provided by the ADB.

It has been carried out from 2007 and all capital was disbursed from the bank, restoring normal living conditions for local people and upgrading essential infrastructure facilities in northern Ha Giang, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, and Nam Dinh provinces and central Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Phu Yen provinces.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Van Thang affirmed the success of the project and asked beneficiary localities to sustainably develop the results of the project to continue serving local residents./.
