A seminar on anti-dumping opened on August 12 in Ho Chi Minh City in a bid to update Vietnamese enterprises and managers on experiences related to the issue worldwide.

Topping the agenda is an overview of US and European regulations and information on anti-dumping, to enable Vietnamese businesses to penetrate effectively into the two markets.

Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies Nguyen Van Quang said that it is necessary to learn from the experiences of other countries on the issue, as well as the World Trade Organisation’s dispute settlement system, in order to help Vietnam avoid obstacles arising from international trading activities and increase its ability to resolve disputes.

According to economists, the up-coming recovery of the world’s economy will boost international commercial transactions, resulting in an increase in the number of anti-dumping lawsuits to protect fair trade between countries.

The seminar was co-organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies, the Centre for Integration WTO Technical Assistance of Ho Chi Minh City, the Multilateral Trade Assistance Project Viet Nam III and the USAID-funded STAR-Vietnam project./.
