Buenos Aires (VNA) – Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Marcelo Faurie hosted a reception on July 1 for Vietnam’s designated Ambassador Dang Xuan Dung who presented him a copy of President Tran Dai Quang’s credentials.

Faurie spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements in national construction and development, while showing his good impression of the nation and people of Vietnam.

He also underscored high cooperation potentials between the two countries, as well as the need for the two sides to exert more joint efforts and seek specific collaboration measures to beef up bilateral partnership.

For his part, designated Ambassador Dung sent President Tran Dai Quang’s regards and repeated the President’s invitation of visit Vietnam to Argentine President Mauricio Marci.

He conveyed Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh’s invitation to visit Vietnam to minister Faurie.

The diplomat noted that political relations between the two countries have been strengthened through regular exchange of delegations and meetings, as well as the maintenance of bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Inter-Governmental Committee and political consultations between the two foreign ministries.

At the same time, trade ties have also been bolstered with two-way trade exceeding 3 billion USD in 2016, up 20 percent over 2015 and tripling that of 2012. Argentina is currently the leading trade partner of Vietnam in the Latin American region, said Dung.

He also pledged to work hard to further foster and develop the all-round partnership between the two countries, making the ties more practical and effective in both bilateral and multilateral aspects.-VNA
