The 62nd ASEAN Coordination Committee on Investment will be held in Myanmar ’s capital of Nay Pyi Taw on January 10-11, according to news agencies.

Dozens of investment officers from member nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations will discuss matters related to amending the ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Treaty, amendment of unpermitted accounts included in the treaty and ongoing work programmes in implementing the treaty at the two-day meeting, the New Light of Myanmar reported on January 3.

The ASEAN Coordination Committee on Investment carries out promotion of investment in the region, smoothing and relaxing rules and regulation and encouraging further flow of investment from regional countries.

The committee also plays as a leading supervisory committee for implementation of investment commitment and cooperation among ASEAN and dialogue partner countries, the report added.

The committee meeting will be followed by the first Myanmar- host ASEAN foreign ministers meeting (AMM) on Januanry 15-18 in Bagan, Mandalay region, according to Xinhua news agency.

Taking over from Brunei , Myanmar started to assume the chairmanship of the bloc on January 1.

During Myanmar 's one-year term of the ASEAN chairmanship, more than 240 regional meetings are scheduled to be held in Nay Phi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan.

ASEAN comprises Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.-VNA
