Nearly 300 senior officials in the energy sector from ASEAN countries are gathering in Vientiane, Laos for the 32nd ASEAN Energy Ministers’ Meeting.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao Quoc Hung led the Vietnamese delegation to the event.

Thammavong underscored the significance of the meeting, the great demand on energy to ensure sustainable socio-economic development in ASEAN, and the need to save energy and develop alternative sources in an effective maner.

The Lao Prime Minister also highlighted the nation’s policies on environmental protection and effective use of natural resources.

The event also drew the participation representatives from dialogue partners, the ASEAN Secretariat, International Energy Agency, ASEAN economic research institute and East Asian energy centre.-VNA
